We recently got our hands on the new Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds for review, and this is what we could make of the new sound buds.

Sennheiser has been a brand that has been building audio equipment including wireless earphones for a very long time. The latest to come from the brand are Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds that came to us for an assessment. We played around with them for quite some time to understand what makes them tick and what makes them talk. Here is the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds review that you need to check if you are in the market to buy new earphones.

When unboxed, the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds come in a charging case that is very different from others. Dressed in black, it is a bit large and has a loop on the side in case you want to hang it with a string in or on your backpack. The charging case looks like a miniature version of an icebox. The lid is magnetically managed, and you get a LED indicator in front of the box. The rear holds the USB charging port that is well hidden behind a rubber panel. This is a good thing as it will save the charging port from dust and water.

Open the sturdy lid and you can see large Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds sporting black colour with a hint of dark bronze on it as the logo. The same colour scheme can be found on the lid of the charging case too. The earbuds have a boxy design, which holds a large audio driver as well as a battery inside. The charging points can be found at the rear of the earphones.

The Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds seem very robust and to wear them one just has to push them into the ear cavity and twist. You also get multiple silicone ear tips with them. One has an open hole while the other has a cross string in them. These can be used for focus or aware mode, which we found to be a little tedious as each time we had to remove and fit in a new tip. You also get 3 additional rubber fins, which can be used for different ear types. The fins help you secure the earbuds in place. 2 mics on each earpiece can also be found for voice calls.

Let’s move to the fun part of the review, its performance. Now here is where these earbuds almost fully shine. Why do we say almost? We will tell you in just a bit. Let’s quickly talk about some of the tech specs of the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds. A 7mm Transducer can be found in each earphone. A 55mAh battery can also be found in each earpiece with 400mAh additional battery that is placed in the charging case.

The company claims you can get 9 hours of playtime. While testing, we got about 8 hours, which is still very good. Over that, an additional 27 hours of playback can be derived through the charging case. Also, 10 minutes of charge in the box can get you 1 hour of audio playback. It takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge the charging box with the earphones inside them.

But how good is the sound? Well, it is very very good. The highs and lows are exceptional. The vocals are incredible too. But what we wanted a little more from Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds was the thump. The bass, well, is not bassy. With the Sennheiser Smart Control app, you can enhance it, yet it is not optimum. Also, with the app, you can switch between the Focus and Aware modes. However, with that, you need to switch the silicone tips too from open to the cross ones, which is a tedious task.

The Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds also feature feather tap panels on each earphone. You can tap to play or pause music, receive or end phone calls or go to previous or next tracks. Over that, these audio earplugs are IP54 rated, which means splashes of water or dust will not ruin them.

Weighing at about 42 grams each, the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless earbuds are not the lightest, but at Rs 10,990 they are one of the less expensive wireless earphone options by the company.

All in all, we loved its battery life and audio performance. Yes, the thump could have been better but the EQ options in the app do take care of it to a certain extent. A little bit more and it would have been great. If the company had added ANC at this price point, these would have been a perfect buy. Nonetheless, if you are in the market to buy branded wireless earphones and ANC is not at the top of your priority list, you can go for them in a blink of an eye.

Bass could have been better
